When Do You Call It A Day?

The purpose of this blog was to give us a collective purpose as a family; to provide us a creative outlet; and to distract us from the summer we did not have due to COVID.

If, in the process, we could enjoy connecting with similarly challenged families, friends and others who related to our situation and appreciated (tolerated?) our corny humor and ruminations, that would be icing on the cake.

It’s been a pleasure to see our kids blossom with the added responsibilities of managing twitter feeds, following google analytics (thank you, Sri Lankan readers, for giving my son the thrill of a lifetime!) and uploading videos to youtube. It’s been a safe way of experiencing social media with less toxicity and more parental oversight.

Enjoying the kids’ creative expression through humor, art and food is a highlight I’ll not soon forget.

Working together on musical parodies has also been a delight. To this day, the kids spontaneously break out into one of our FOTE songs and we all end up smiling at their performance.

Now that school is back in session, our free time has changed dramatically. Distance learning has established a pattern of daily screen time, followed by a need for intensive supplemental teaching and completion of projects.

Interest and available time for this site have waned.

Where do we go from here?

Hang up a banner reading “Mission Accomplished?”

Close for business?

Wait until next summer to resume?

It’s looking like a hiatus may be in our future…
