Penguin Town is a great family show that’s entertaining, warm, and just generally delightful.
With Patton Oswald as narrator, the program is much lighter and funnier than most animal documentaries. The favorite South African penguins showcased are given names (The Colberts and the Bougainvilleas are two couples we follow) so, as you might expect, there’s a lot of anthropomorphizing, but it’s all done in good fun and for the purpose of education.
The photography is fantastic, including the penguin cam that allows watchers to feel like they’re the swimming birds themselves, both having fun and avoiding predators.
