Covid-19 has been hanging over the entire world for over a year, but we are starting to see good things happen. Finally, after so much time, we have more than one vaccine for Covid. The Covid-19 vaccines are the fastest immunizations ever to be made in history. With so many people around the world getting vaccinated each day, Covid has started to get a lot better. Though this is true, there is no reason to take unnecessary risks. Some places around the world are already experiencing a fourth wave, so the places that aren’t yet, including California, need to be extra safe in order to make sure that Covid does not erupt again. With new variants from different countries, Covid has been getting more harmful to all sorts of age levels, including kids. If people can stay in their homes and only go out for necessities, Covid rates will start to die down.
Vaccine administration is going very well. In the US, about 50% of people have gotten the first shot, while Israel, a country with high rates of distribution, has about 60%. Israel has been able to open up many different activities for anyone who has a Green Pass, signifying that they have gotten vaccinated. Another country that has done extremely well in this pandemic is New Zealand, with incredibly small rates of Covid-19. Early in the pandemic, New Zealand had already started opening up activities because of such a small number of cases. Hopefully, the USA will soon be like this if people keep getting vaccinated.
In my area, I have seen signs showing that Covid is getting better. One example of this is that the local public library is opening for 30 minute sessions. I have gone into this library with my mom once, and it was incredible to be back after not going in for over a year. They have had a great system while the library was closed indoors by handing books to people from their cars, but it felt amazing to go into the library.
All of this is to say that if people continue to be careful with Covid, and vaccine distribution keeps going well, hopefully the pandemic will be over soon. I am optimistic that more things will start to open up. Remember to stay apart and masked to not only keep yourself safe, but also to keep other people safe too.
