Years ago journalist Lori Gottlieb interviewed me for a piece on women physicians. I guess I wasn’t interesting enough because when I sat down to read the published article, I noticed I was cut from it. Oh well. I harbor no resentment and was enthused to see that Gottlieb has a new book out Maybe You Should Talk to Someone about her work as a therapist (a profession she trained for and initiated in her 40s) and her own therapy. Gottlieb follows a few of her patients through their awakenings in therapy and covers her own therapeutic sessions after her long-term boyfriend breaks up with her unexpectedly. Her candor is fresh and appreciated.
If you want more background on the book, listen to this great podcast episode with Gottlieb on Terry Gross’ Fresh Air.
