I would not consider myself a big basketball fan (except when I get to watch SotE play; she was a PV All-Star player), so I did not think I would particularly connect with “The Last Dance,” a 10-part documentary on Michael Jordan. I was wrong. Beyond getting to see Jordan, Larry Bird, Scottie Pippin, and others behind-the-scenes, the film demonstrates how human frailties, egos, and insecurities – amplified by the public’s watchful eye and sports reporters’ provocative questions – can occasionally bomb even the most talented players and teams. If you’re not sure if it’s going to be entertaining, dramatic, poignant, and electrifying just watch the trailer. Then try your best not to binge all 10 episodes at once on Netflix.
I’m not a sports fan so normally would not have considered watching. But now I will – thanks for the recommendation MotE!
Some parts are truly riveting, and the psychology of the team as a whole and the players’individual fame is fascinating. You can also find some role models and they might not include Michael Jordan.
